How to Style Your Home Office Better

Saturday, May 23, 2020

If you’re not happy with your home office, then it’s time to change it. Improving the decor and adding paint can take the place you work from blah to amazing. Then you’re more likely to want to be there and likely feel more inspired in your projects than before.

Rethink Storage
If you feel like you have too many loose papers, supplies, and books hanging around the office, then they can start to clutter your mind as much as they do to the room. Help organize the space better so that it is not only one that helps you feel calmer but is also functional.

For example, box together things that are similar, such as staples, stapler, and pens. Try to get boxes that are identical (or similar) to create a uniformed look.

Choose a color that suits the rest of your room, and make sure you label the front of them so you can see at a glance what is in each one. Labels will save you time as there’s no need to open each box to figure out what’s inside it.

Change the Wall Color
A great way to freshen up a home office is by changing the wall paint color. It can transform a space from feeling outdated to one that invigorates you.

Choose a color that makes you happy since you are likely to be in the office a lot. For example, think about a light shade of yellow or a soft green. Save money on this style project with the best price Dulux paint.

If you haven’t quite decided on the color yet, start with a Dulux Tester Paint. Once you find a shade you love, then get a larger can and paint your heart out!

Enjoy the View
Do you have a window in your office? If so and you’ve had your back to it for years, now is the time to face the window so that you can enjoy the view.

Looking out at nature can help ground you. It can also give you the extra push you need to meet the deadline when you see the nice weather outside and want to get out in the garden while there’s still daylight.

If there isn’t a window in the room, don’t worry. You could frame a picture of the outdoors or one of the family to help inspire you at work. Another option is to face the door.

Consider the Lighting
Another important element that often gets forgotten is the lighting. Make sure you have a good task light so that you can direct more illumination in the computer screen to save your eyes from straining, which can cause fatigue.

Also, if the natural sunlight streaming through the window of your office is blinding you, then get some adjustable shades or simple blinds. Then you can adjust them to get only as much natural light as you want to have as you work.

Creating a Home Office that You Love
With some planning and attention to detail, you can have the home office you’ve always desired. It can become a stylish part of the room rather than one that you dread being in while you work.
