Eco-Friendly Birthday Party Ideas

Wednesday, March 11, 2020

Taking into account all the things that are going on nowadays with our planet it’s important now more than ever to be responsible and take care of our planet as much as we can as individuals. Being ecologically aware and responsible means avoiding to use plastic and recycling, using public transports over cars and having an overall natural lifestyle that as a word says, comes naturally. This should also include throwing birthday parties for you or your friends and family. Organizing a green birthday party may seem tricky or even impossible but there are lots of eco-friendly choices you can make and you can stick to them to have a low-waste birthday party. Let's take a look at some of the ideas.

Organize Separate Trash Baskets
The first and the easiest step in organizing an eco-friendly party is to make a separate trash basket for items that can be recycled. If you want to have a more organized party and you'd like to go one step further, you can make separate baskets each for plastic, paper, glass and metal. When your guests arrive to tell them you'd appreciate them to help you with sorting the trash and follow the instructions which you previously put on each trash basket.

Games for Already Available Material
When you’re trying to organize a birthday party your goal is to make the event joyful for all of your guests. But, to be honest that can be difficult sometimes, especially if your guests are children. Entertaining people at the party can be even harder when you’re trying to be eco-friendly. Luckily, there are already some games and ways of entertaining that are already available and that are low-wasted. Some of these games may include making a newspaper medallions, making your own drink or cocktail, or taking your photos at a photo booth. For the first three ways of entertainment, you don't need much, and for the last one, you can easily rent a photo booth. Renting one of these booths is available in almost every country – Europe, the USA, Australia and others. Speaking of the latest, if you happen to live in Australia there are professional and fun photo booths to hire in Sydney. This way you and your guests will have guaranteed fun and you'll have a cool way of entertainment that's super festive but also low on waste.

Have an Outdoor Birthday
What’s more eco-friendly than having a birthday party outdoors? There's nothing more fun than having a party outdoors. The reason for that is because there are lots of eco-friendly activities that are available to you and your guests. Besides, having a party outdoors and being in nature is healthier than staying at home or organizing a party in a restaurant. Your activities may vary – from a trip to the national park to having a picnic next to the nearest river or lake. While you’re in the park and nature, you can use this opportunity to learn more about the plants and trees that surround you. This experience can be educational both for adults and children.

Avoid Using Wrapping Paper or Gift Bags
If you'd like to save a trip skip using a wasteful wrapping paper. Instead, reuse any old gift or wrapping paper that you have in your house and make sure you use the minimum on the paper. If you're creative enough you can go one step further and combine different pieces of gift or wrapping paper. That way, you'll create a mosaic around your gift. After all, most people won't remember which paper you used and how it was packed since the present is the main attraction. So, why waste paper if someone will throw it away eventually? But, to prevent that from happening, ask the person who’s opening the present if they could open it carefully so that that can save and use the same paper in future.

Summary
Having an eco-friendly party can be tricky because it requires all the people who attend it to follow the instructions to have a successful green party. The most important thing when organizing this kind of party is to think it through and plan it on time. Luckily for us, there are lots of possibilities, ideas and ways to have an ecologically aware party these days.
