How to Ensure The Whole Family Is Happy

Monday, August 5, 2019

It’s not easy, having a family. You need to work hard to make sure you have the money for housing and food, and there’s always a nagging fear that you’re not quite getting things right (even though you probably are). And on top of all that, and ensuring they have the essentials, you need to work to make sure that they’re happy and thriving, too. Now, happiness can be an elusive thing -- philosophers have wrestled with the happiness issue for thousands of years; there’s no quick solution. However, there are some tried, tested, and recommended tips that can help to make it more attainable for everyone in your clan. We take a look at a few such methods below.

Individual Happiness
The first thing to do is to pay attention to a person’s individual happiness. There’s something to be said for acting as a clan, and everyone working together for the good of the whole family, but we’re all humans -- we all have that individual side, too. So don’t just focus on how the whole family dynamic is working: check in with everyone on an individual basis. They might have a problem that isn’t connected to the rest of the family at all, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not important.

Exercise and Adventures
There are some things that experts are beginning to realize have a profound impact on a human being’s happiness. Two such examples are: exercise, and spending time in the great outdoors. Your children might naturally lead towards long days spent inside on a games console, but it might not be doing their happiness levels all that much good. Every now and again, look at planning a trip out into nature -- a hike or a night in a tent will do the trick. You can also lookup some sweat-inducing activities for the family to do, so that everyone gets their dose of exercise.

Bigger Problems
For the most part, the issues that your family will face will be small. They’ll have a negative impact on their happiness levels, but no profoundly so. There may be times, however, when there is a much bigger problem at hand. Sometimes, bad things happen to people who don’t deserve it. If you have older relatives in a nursing home, then lookout for signs of abuse. If you spot something wrong, then look at working with nursing home abuse attorneys who genuinely care about seniors, and fight for justice. With the younger members of your clan, the issue might be bullying, both in the real world and online. This has become a bigger issue in recent years, but thankfully, there are tools to help eradicate the issue.

Healthy and Happy Lifestyles
Your children learn so much more from you than just what you actively teach them. They pick up on everything, from how a person should eat, to how they treat other people, to how they view themselves. Put all these things together, and you have a pretty big influence on happiness levels. So make sure you’re getting it right. There is value in learning how to prepare healthy meals using fresh ingredients. Thinking bigger, they’re also going to figure out how they see the world based on how you see the world. If you’re happy, they’ll be happy -- or, at least, it’s much more likely that this will be the case, anyway.

Pursuing Dreams
Your children are going to have dreams of their own. It’s highly unlikely that anyone else is going to make their dream come true for them, and they might not have the confidence or belief to force it through themselves. This is where you can come. You can nurture your children’s hopes and ambitions, and put them on the right path. It’s one of those things that can have a big impact on their happiness levels later on down the line -- it can be the difference between them living their best life, or ending up in a situation that they don’t want to be in.

Talk It Out
Finally, make sure you’re taking the time to talk with all members of your family about how their feeling. Sometimes, people can be keeping some inner turmoil all to themselves, and this doesn’t do anyone any good. It’s much better to talk it out. They might not even say anything there and then, but they’ll know, at least, that you’re there and available to talk should they need it. It shouldn’t be underestimated how much of a difference than can make!
