Make Sure That Your Proposal Is Really Special!

There are very few things in the world that are more amazing than that moment when you look at your partner, the person you love more than anyone, and you realize that you want to be with them for the rest of your life. It can happen slowly or it can hit you all at once, but realizing that you've found the one person for you for the rest of your life is truly incredible. Of course, once you make that decision it's time to start thinking about the future. If you want to be with someone for the rest of your life then there's one step that you're going to want to make pretty soon: getting married. And, of course, you're not going to be able to get married without a proposal first. Proposing to your partner can simultaneously be one of the most exciting and terrifying things you will ever do. After all, the idea of asking the one you love to spend their life with you is wonderful but it also comes with a lot of fear. What if it goes wrong? What if you mess it up? What if they say no? To help you get past these fears, here are some things that you can do to make sure that your proposal is just right.

Find the perfect ring
The most obvious thing that you need to think about when it comes to your proposal is, of course, the ring. The ring is often the thing that most people think of before anything else when two people decide to get married. After all, if you tell someone you're engaged, there's a good chance that the first thing they will ask is to see the ring. Because of that, you want to make sure that the ring you choose is absolutely perfect. Most people will say that a diamond ring is the only one for them which is totally understandable since there's nothing more perfectly traditional and elegant. However, it's important to remember that even within diamond rings, there are so many different styles and variations. Check out Tacori's collection of engagement rings to see just how many different options there are out there. Of course, you may also want to try something a little less traditional when it comes to an engagement ring. It's just a matter of what's best for you and your partner.

Go somewhere special
A lot of people tend to forget about the location of their proposal when they're planning it. After all, they choose the ring, they get ready with what they want to say, but they don't think about whether or not the location they choose will actually help increase the romance of the moment or whether it will completely ruin it. The best thing to do is to think about places that are special to you and your partner. Maybe think about choosing the place where you had your first date. Or maybe the location of your first kiss. You will almost certainly have plenty of wonderful memories with your partner, you can surely find one that works for getting down on one knee.

Do it the right way
Of course, it's not just a matter of where you propose, you also need to think about how you propose. Plenty of proposals that would have been great are ruined because someone decided to try doing something that their partner hated. If your partner is the kind of person who is much happier in places where the two of you can be alone and doesn't really love showy displays of affection, having a flash mob help out with your proposal is hardly going to make them feel all that excited. After all, if you can't propose to them in a way that they would actually appreciate, how well do you really know them? Ask yourself, what kind of person is your partner? What do they like and what do they hate? Let those questions guide you towards proposing in exactly the way you know they would want.

Give yourself a script
The best advice when proposing to your partner is to speak from the heart. After all, this is the person that you love the most, you don't need flowery language to tell them how much you want to spend your life with them. That being said, when you're in the moment, it's often pretty easy to find yourself completely at a loss for words. It's a good idea to give yourself at least some kind of script to work from, even if it's just something in your head. Trying to improvise everything you say is just going to leave you stumbling over your words which, while probably pretty endearing, isn't going to get your message across all that well.

Don't make it a total surprise
A lot of people are going to disagree with this because they feel that the surprise of a proposal adds to the romance but the truth is that a totally unexpected proposal can often leave people in pretty uncomfortable positions. After all, you get months to plan what you want to say and they get thirty seconds to decide if they want to marry you? That's hardly fair, is it? Getting married is something that you should be willing to talk about beforehand to make sure that it's what you both really want.

Of course, one of the things that you have to remember is that your proposal is just the start of a brand new journey that you and your partner are taking together. After all, not only do you now have the long and complicated tasks of planning a wedding ahead of you, but you also have everything that comes after that. After all, marriage is one of the biggest commitments that you will ever make in your life. Luckily, no matter how difficult it might get as the years go on, you've got the person you love the most by your side.
