Blooms And Berries Farm Market - 2018 Butterfly Festival Loveland, OH {Event Review} @usfg

The ‘Blooms and Berries Farm Market 2018 Butterfly Festival’ is something that I recently had the pleasure of experiencing for the first time with my family. We were mostly looking forward to a day out together, the weather was perfect and at 2.5 hours, the drive isn’t far. What we were REALLY looking forward to was the release of 500 butterflies that came just after we got there. Our timing was perfect for this. We walked in and watched a man who was explaining the tradition and how it all began, he also shared with us some pretty interesting facts about butterflies.

The setting for the release was picturesque. We were standing in a field with rows of some of the biggest and most colorful flowers you can imagine. The butterflies love to pollinate, so this was just as much an ideal spot for them as it was for us. We got a happy surprise while waiting, a lovely butterfly-princess snuck up from behind, and asked our daughter for a picture. All of my kids got their picture with her. I loved how she interacted with the crowd, even those who hadn’t noticed her yet. The crowd was surprisingly big, but not so big that anybody’s view was blocked. Two other people joined the man and all three opened a box each at the same time. For a moment, butterflies filled the sky! The coolest part was that they didn’t all scatter and fly away. They didn’t seem to mind us at all, and landed on the flowers in between the people. Almost like they were saying hello.

After the release, there was a lot of other festivities to enjoy. They had musical instruments that were anchored in the ground. Sand-pits for the little ones. Ducks were roaming around, we saw goats as well, and even turkeys! My youngest daughter got her face painted, she also climbed up the slide and then climbed back down (she got a little scared). My son and his dad got some pretty tasty-looking grilled-cheese sandwich. There were also juice and BBQ trucks. The festive feeling was kept alive by the imagery, everything had a colorful look and most of the decorations/props included cool facts and were educational. We picked up some pretty cool souvenirs at the lovely gift shop, a perfect blend of food and toys for young and old.

The entire day was magical and we all enjoyed it and were happy for the rest of the day. The car ride home was filled with talks about butterflies, and my kids seemed less obsessed with their electronics, if only for a day. That is priceless, and we will definitely have to do this again!
