GoodCook Salad Spinner, Lettuce Knife, and Dressing Shaker Review {Mother's Day Gift Guide}

In our home, we prepare lots of meals. Most of the meals tend to be healthy. One thing we love to eat either as a snack, or along with dinner, is a nice salad. You can do so much with salads, from making them simple with few ingredients, to adding a variety of ingredients like meats, croutons, dressings, or other vegetables. When we prepare salads, we like to make them unique by purchasing ingredients not just for the salad but also for the dressing. Recently, I had the chance to work with GoodCook on some amazing kitchen essentials to make our salads a cut above the rest.  During my review I received the Dressing Shaker, Lettuce Knife, and the Salad Spinner. I have never tried any of these products so I was really excited to see how the salads in our home were going to turn out.

This innovative new product from good cook makes it fun and easy to wash, dry, and mix your salads! use the green colander to wash your salad over running water. Place the colander back into the clear bowl, add your desired salad dressing, and apply the lid. A quick pull of the retractable handle is enough to mix your dressing; the bowl keeps spinning after just one tug. Use Stop button when desired.
  • Soft
  • non-slip base for stability
  • Bpa free and dishwasher safe

I have used the salad spinner several times since receiving it. Each time this product has worked great without any issues. The lid comes off with ease, and stays on during the spinning process. The bottom is also nonslip which helps keep the bowl in place while being used. I love the ease of using this product, you simply pull the string which is a white cord and it retracts back into the spinner which is excellently concealed in the top of the lid. If you want to stop the spinning process prematurely, there is a stop button which works well. I usually just let it spin till it is done while I am working on other things for dinner. The basket comes completely out and the unit breaks down into three pieces. It does say it is dishwasher safe, but I am not sure how well the spinner and cord would withstand the heat from a dishwasher. I would leave this part out of the dishwasher at least.

This cool green lettuce knife is the tool of choice to slice iceberg, romaine, chard, and other leafy delights. Metal blades can cause delicate lettuce to brown; use this to remove the tough core, then rinse leaves under cold water. The serrated edge glides right through other veggies, fruits, and garnishes, too, from pretty tart to tomatoes and onions for burger toppings or for making the ultimate salad.

When I think of cutting up a head of lettuce, I never would have thought about using a lettuce knife. I have always just grabbed any knife out of the knife block and used that to cut my lettuce. I couldn’t wait to try the lettuce knife. I wanted to see if it really offered a great cut that would keep lettuce better for longer. Keep in mind that this knife is plastic but it works just as great as a typical knife. It cuts through the lettuce with ease and I was really impressed with how the lettuce didn’t turn brown. I guess I never really thought about it before, but the lettuce usually did turn brown pretty fast. I was also impressed with how well this knife cuts through tomatoes. I have decided to hand wash this knife, I just feel that it will last longer. I am not one to trust putting any of my cutlery in the dishwasher.

The Good Cook Salad Dressing Shaker is ideal for making, mixing, serving and storing dressing, sauces and marinades. The watertight, leakproof silicone seal holds content inside. The built in strainer with emulsifier blends and breaks up ingredients efficiently. The blending wand makes it even easier to mix during shaking. It is made from BPA free plastic and is dishwasher safe. Good Cook stands behind its products and offers a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee.
  • Ideal for making, mixing, serving and storing dressing, sauces and marinades
  • Watertight, leakproof silicone seal
  • Holds 1.5 cups or 12 oz of dressing

I am a huge fan of the dressing shaker. It is very versatile; add your ingredients to it, shake, pour, and store. It is see-through, so you can easily see not only how much dressing is left, but also how well the ingredients combined during the mixing process. The mixing wand is a nice feature, not sure if I can tell the difference with it. The top has a pop open tab, which when closed is air tight, making it perfect for storage. It is recommend to hand wash this, so that is what I do.

All of these products have worked great since I began using them. No issues, and I can see using them throughout the summer for all those cookouts, especially Mother’s Day this weekend.
