Smithfield Marketplace Ham Slices Review

Sunday, July 28, 2013

With summer here and the kids not currently in school, we try to do many day trips as a family. Sometimes these trips require packing lunches and eating a picnic. This is something that my family loves to do. My kids are very picky when it comes to eating, so finding food that my kids will eat when we have a picnic can be exhausting. Lunchmeat is usually the one area of food that is hard to find something the kids will eat. Luckily, for me I had the chance to work with Smithfield on a review on their Genuine Smithfield Ham Slices. The ham slices I received not only make for a great sandwich but they also make a great ingredient in dishes that I prepare.

Smithfield Marketplace offers so many different products that include: ham, pork, beef, bacon, sausage, turkey, poultry, seafood, desserts, and so so much more.

The final step to ultimate convenience, cooked, trimmed and sliced Genuine Smithfield Ham. These thin slices come in vacuum packages, 8 oz. each, for further ease of serving and storage. Recommended for ham sandwiches, biscuits or rolls and as a compliment to seafood and poultry entrees. Refrigerate upon receipt. These fully cooked and thinly sliced country ham slices are full of old-fashioned country cure flavor.

There is something to be said of a good country ham. Luter’s Artisan genuine Smithfield thinly sliced ham is a fine example of the way a dry, salt-cured ham is supposed to taste. The arduous process that is dry curing is both time consuming and costly, but the result is a taste that cannot be replicated in any mass processing factory.

Smithfield has created an authentic country ham. This is not be mistaken for a spiral or Honey ham. Dry-cured ham is preserved with salt, a process that dates back thousands of years. Recent times have strayed away from this practice. Newer style hams are far less salty. If you plan to eat Smithfield’s dry-cured ham right out of the package, you will find it extremely salty. It is best to soak the ham first and remove some of the salt. It is great to use as-is to add flavor and texture to salads and beans, as well as utilized in other recipes.

The Ham comes thinly sliced and fully cooked, ready to use or serve in convenient vacuum-sealed packages. The proof of Smithfied’s dedication is in the flavor of their product. This is the ham for those who love authentic tasting country ham.
