What Are You Capable of?

Featuring an Extended Cut Loaded with Must-See Deleted Scenes,
The Intense Sci-Fi Thriller Flied On To Blu-ray and DVD May 15

Los Angeles, CA (April 23, 2012) — Take an extraordinary journey with three teens who uncover a power greater than anything they’ve ever imagined.  Up-and-coming actors Dane DeHaan (“True Blood”), Alex Russell (Almost Kings) and Michael B. Jordan (“Friday Night Lights”) star alongside Michael Kelly (The Adjustment Bureau) in the innovative action film CHRONICLE, debuting on Blu-ray and DVD May 15 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Three high school students make an incredible discovery, leading to their developing uncanny telekinetic powers beyond their understanding.  As they learn to control their abilities and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control as their darker sides begin to take over.  What starts out as fun and games quickly becomes dangerous and they must face the inevitable question of whether they can handle the responsibility that comes with their remarkable powers.

Utilizing hand-held filmmaking techniques to create a realistic and exciting viewing experience, the CHRONICLE Blu-ray boast a director’s cut of the film and unseen footage that offer a deeper glimpse into the events that took place with the students.  Special features include deleted scene, camera test, pre-viz materials and more.
I was recently selected by Fox to review a new movie of theirs called “Chronicle” an interesting film that takes the increasingly popular “found footage” style of film and uses it in a more effective manner than many other films of this genre. I watched it the same day that it arrived and can honestly say that I was impressed and drawn in by both the style of filming and the plot that guides the film.

The film features three teenagers that discover a new form of energy underground that gives them telekinetic powers, allowing them to perform superhuman feats at first. The film develops into a somewhat sinister telling as they slowly realize that having superhuman powers indeed makes you a superhuman. The agendas of each character come to life as their behavior and choices start to become influenced by their ability. If you give a teen too much power, consequences will more than likely run rampant.

Chronicle takes an honest look at developing human nature and influences on behavior. It explores the darker side of right and wrong decisions and the consequences that result from those decisions. The acting and the script are top-notch, and the movie itself is captivating and intense. At times it grows suspenseful to the point of nail-biting and is very entertaining to watch overall.

If you love movies that make you feel involved or question “what if” scenarios from a far off and hypothetical view, than this movie will sing to your senses. Anyone who enjoys films at all are bound to find this enjoyable. It is a real treat, even if you didn’t enjoy the “Blair Witch Project” or “Clover field”. This film might have soared under the radar for some. Despite that fact, it soars high above much of the competition in entertainment value.
