Friday, November 18, 2011

It is hard to believe how much technology has taken over our lives, but there are a lot of really great things about that. Technology offers a way to do your shopping, pay your bills, keep in touch with family members, and help teach our kids. There are so many different sites that help elevate our children's knowledge and helps make learning fun. When I was a kid pretty much all we had was well books.

I personally don't mind my kids being on the computer all the time. Of course, I don't let them just surf the Internet. I only allow them to be on safe sites and I prefer educational sites. So, when Math Blaster allowed me to do a review on their site, my kids were ready to get started and see what the site was all about.

About the company: For more than 15 years, Knowledge Adventure has set the standard in kids’ software by creating the finest educational products for use in the home and the classroom. In addition to our CD games, we’ve launched an online learning world at and a math-based virtual world at

It is completely free to access the basic features of Math Blaster, but to unlock all of the learning games and advanced area and extra things to do you must be a member. When you become a member parents are able to add up to six kids per account. Math Blaster has an amazing blog that parents can find information about the games and upcoming features.
"Math Blaster is a learning-based virtual world where kids can create avatars called Blasters as they become the newest cadets at Blaster Academy. After completing arcade-style math challenges and racing through high-speed missions, they become members of the Intergalactic Space Patrol and explore a futuristic world, voyage to strange new planets and discover wacky alien races, all while practicing their math skills. Recently, they have launched the Monster Mutt Rescue Dome where Blasters can adopt an alien pet and take it on expeditions to distant planets. Math Blaster prides itself on being committed to children’s online safety. Although Math Blaster is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, they have designed safety features including multiple chat levels and preprogrammed names to ensure that our players remain safe while playing the game. Additionally, they allow parents to enable and disable the MMO features to make the game as socially interactive as they feel comfortable."
I love that Math Blaster offers an assortment of games to play. This really allows the child to enjoy the site over and over again with not doing the same thing every time. I  also love the fact that being a member of Math Blaster you are also a member of Jumpstart, which is a nicely added bonus. Both sites for one is great!

I feel that this site is much more for my daughter whom is seven. Although, my little boy does like to travel and experience the place, he is not able to really participate in the games. My daughter however is doing great on the site and is really having a blast.

She really enjoys the mutts, plus being able to have battles with her pets was a huge plus with her. She is having fun learning and really interacting on the site. For those kids that love to be in the virtual world online, and for parents that love for their kids to be on educational sites. This would be a great gift for any kid.

Where to purchase:You are able to become a member on the Math Blaster website. Membership prices are: Monthly: $7.99, Annual: $74.99, and Lifetime: $149.99.
