Holiday Gift Guide 2011: Paper Scissors Rock Review/Giveaway

Friday, November 25, 2011

I came across the website Paper Scissors Rock and fell in love with all the items on the site. So, when I was given the chance to work along side the company with a review. I was really happy as I knew I would love whatever piece I was given the opportunity to review. Since, I have been looking for an alarm clock for my little girls room, I was so happy when I came across the one that would go perfectly with her room.

About the artist: Paper Scissors Rock clocks and magnets are reproductions of original paintings by Northwest Artist Pamela Corwin and are created in her studio in Olympia, Washington. Pamela works in acrylics and watercolors, sometimes adding elements of collage to her work. She has been in business since 1981 and her work has been featured on several national television shows and in magazines such as House Beautiful, Seventeen and Pacific Northwest. In 1996 she was commissioned to paint an egg for the White House Easter tree and designed the Pike Place Market Festival Poster in 2000. Pamela also teaches local classes on the business of crafts. For more information on classes or on arranging a workshop in your area, visit the Business of Crafts Website.

Paper Scissors Rock offer a unique and original line of night lights, whimsical clocks, magnets, bookmarks and greeting cards. Each selection of items offers such a nicely sized selection allowing you to find the prefect item. There are different sizes, colors, and themes which allows you to easy match to any room you have in your home.
The Alarm Clocks are a huge hit. Each 2" square clock has a round face with a print of an original designs and a "floating second hand" which is printed on a clear plastic disk, so the image appears to float around the edge of the clock. For example, on the Cat alarm clock the second hand is a tiny mouse, which runs around the face of the clock. On the Dog clock, a tiny bone counts the seconds. Each Alarm Clock comes in a gift box with the battery included.

When I received the Dragonfly alarm clock from Paper Scissors Rock I was really impressed with the image and the detailing. Even though the alarm clock is only a 2" square this alarm clock holds a lot of character and really adds a extra piece of decor to any room. I had originally decided to go with the Dragonfly alarm clock due to the fact that my little's girl room is purple so having this specific alarm clock went perfectly well with the room scheme that she had already.

With most alarm clocks I have had in the past they usually take a lot of work to set the time and alarm. I really like how this is manually set with two little dials on the back. I also was really surprised that the alarm clock was actually loud not quiet, which is what I had thought it would be at first.

I am really happy with the quality, detailing, and how well the alarm clock worked. This would make a great gift or even a stocking stuffer for anyone.
