The Student From Zombie Island Book Review

Saturday, October 8, 2011

In our home reading is a huge part of our lives. We read all the time. From me reading to the kids in the evening, or my daughter wanting to read to her brother. It is really cute to see how she reads to him, plus when she tries to change her voice it is too funny. My daughter loves to write her own stories now, I am guessing it comes from hubby. My hubby's father was a college professor when he was younger so books was a huge part of his life. You can tell simply by how he encourages the kids to have a love for books, and also with him writing on his first novel. I love that my little family has such a love for books. For me that is way I was so excited when I had the chance to review a kids book The Student From Zombie Island from Five Star Publications

This captivating illustrated story takes you on a whirlwind trip through the rumor mill. A new kid is coming to school. Known only as Bust em Up Bill, it s not long before the other students have made up their minds what he must be like. Rumors son begin flying around the school. With a nickname like Bust em Up Bill, he must have flaming red hair, yellow fangs, the claws of a dragon, and breath that can singe your hair! As the story progresses, the rumors grow wilder and wilder until (gulp!) Bust em Up Bill shows up at school. An important message about the dangers of making assumptions jumping to conclusions about others is delivered in a delightful manner that will captivate young readers and their parents and teachers.

This book in an excellent resource for parents along with teachers to use. The book teach's little ones the importance of not making judgements before they get to know someone. How talking and starting rumors can be truly hurtful to someone. During the story you will find it to be very humorous and also how it offers a great story line. There are so many values that we as parents teach our kids as they grow up. But, with kids they don't just want to be told " you need these values". It is much easier and kids tend to be more willing to learn when you make it fun for them. One way to do this is by having a great story book for kids. While they are reading they will be learning values.
