Lundberg Rice Bowl and Stonehouse 27 Sauce ~ 5 Minute 5 Ingredient Meal Review/Giveaway 5 Winners

Monday, September 26, 2011

We have a very busy house, sometimes I'm not sure if we have time to relax. The kids and I all get up at 7am to start off the day, which means get the kids ready for school and off they go. Once they are gone I usually go to the tanning bed. This is my 'me time'. Then I come home and clean the house, do some blogging, eBay and maybe before the kids get home, watch a show or two that is on my DVR. Then once they get home I spend some time with my kids plus do homework. Once this is all done, while they are playing, I start on dinner, which by this time I am totally beat and just don't feel like cooking. Once I spend time cooking, and we eat, it is time to give the baths. By this time it is 8:30 and I just am just beat. I know what would make my life so much easier, being able to make a meal in 5 minutes with only 5 ingredients or less. I had the opportunity to work with two amazing companies Stonehouse 27 and Lundberg Family Farms to bring to you all a great 5 minute meal with 5 ingredients.
About Stonehouse 27: Stonehouse 27 was born in 2008 from Sharon Fernandez’s desire to bring delicious, all-natural sauces from her homeland to kitchens around the world. About Lundberg Family Farms: Lundberg Family Farms is a family-owned and operated rice company that is committed to producing the finest quality rice and rice products for your family. The Heat & Eat Brown Rice Bowls are quick, convenient, healthy brown rice that cooks perfect every time. Just Heat & Eat! It’s ready in seconds making it easy to get your daily servings of whole grains. It can be served as a side dish or used as a base in your favorite rice recipes. Lundberg’s Heat & Eat Bowls are available in 3 popular rice varieties: Short Grain Brown, Long Grain Brown and Countrywild.

During my opportunity two review a product from each company, I also had the chance to choose what item from each place I wanted to review. I was also told which products I could choose from at each place, which was nice because it helped me narrow down my choices much easier. I choose the Heat & Eat Organic short Grain Brown rice from Lundberg Family Farms and then from Stonehouse27 I choose the Tamarind & Garlic with creamy coconut and cumin. I really felt that these two items would be great with the ingredients I wanted to use.

Heat & Eat Short Grain Brown Rice: is a full-flavored rice with grains that are soft and cling together. Enjoy the whole grain goodness as a side dish or add a variety of ingredients to create your own signature meal. This convenient, precooked organic brown rice is especially versatile, nutty and delicious. Just Heat & Eat! Stovetop: Pour rice into small pan, add 1 tbs. of water and heat on MEDIUM until hot, stirring occasionally. Microwave: Lift flap to dotted line. Microwave on HIGH 60 to 90 seconds (heating times may vary, depending on wattage).

Stonehouse 27’s Tamarind & Garlic sauce: is a perfect mix of tangy tomato and tamarind with a delicate touch of coconut milk and agave nectar.Terrific with CHICKEN, SEAFOOD and VEGETABLES. Especially tasty paired with shrimp and salmon and served over rice, quinoa or farro. Makes a tangy dip for fresh vegetables, flatbread and pita, too!

When I got my two products I knew for sure what my other three ingredients for this 5 minute meal was going to be. I choose to go with tomatoes, celery and onions all which I think are great with rice. When adding in such a great tasting sauce on top of this I knew I was in for a treat.
So, the process to make my dinner was quite easy. First I started with putting my sauce to get heated up. Sauce of any kind tastes better when heated; I think it really brings out the taste of the flavors. So, while my sauce was heating I started to chop up my onions, tomatoes, and celery.
Once, I got my ingredients all chopped up, which didn't take long at all since I keep them in really good bite sizes (not small). I then put my rice in the microwave which didn't took 80 seconds to cook. While that was cooking I took my sauce off the stove to cool. At this point the only thing I was waiting on was my rice and sauce to cool off. I added all of my ingredients into a bowl and gave them a nice little mixing (but not too nice).

This was such a pretty and colorful dish. Of course my kids wouldn't try the dish, this doesn't surprise me since they are so picky. Me and hubby both enjoyed the dish. It was a really nice, fast and easy meal to prepare with great flavors. The rice was really surprisingly good, especially considering the 90 seconds cook time. The sauce was extremely good with all the flavors that it  had. I could actually taste each individual flavor and loved every bite. I know that maybe my dish was a little odd but me and hubby love to mix up our rice dishes with different veggies.

If you are looking for a dish with 5 ingredients or less and only takes 5 minutes, plus taste really good then you will want to try out these awesome products from Stonehouse27 and Lundberg Family Farms.
